AppJetty MappyField 365 is a plugin for Dynamics 365 that allows users to plot CRM records on a map, helping sales teams perform various tasks and activities. Users can efficiently manage their time in the field with features like route optimization, activity scheduling, and route searches. Additionally, MappyField 365 enables users to find nearby locations using the default Bing Maps integration.
This blog explains how to search for any Point of Interest (POI) location, on the map, such as restaurants, cafes, gas stations, hospitals, and pharmacies nearby.
Suppose a sales representative (or service executive) visits clients for appointments or meetings in the field. If the sales rep receives a call that the client will not be available for an hour, what should they do? Should they wait at the client’s location or find another place to rest and plan their next meetings? MappyField 365 helps users search for nearby locations directly on the map. This can be done by entering an address manually or based on the nearby location of specific entity records from the map.
Since MappyField 365 is integrated with Azure Maps, users can view mapped nearby locations. Follow these steps to find POI locations using MappyField 365:
1. Navigate to MappyField 365 -> ‘Map’.
2. Find the POI in three different ways:
- 1. Using the “POI” tab in the header menu.
- 2. Searching for nearby locations of the selected entity record.
- 3. Accessing the Context Menu by right-clicking on the map.
3. Search for “Other POI” locations from the available list.
Step 1: Navigate to MappyField 365
After logging into Dynamics 365, click on MappyField 365 from the Dynamics 365 Apps dashboard.
Step 2: Search the POI on the MappyField 365 map To search and plot specific Point of Interest (POI) locations on the map in three different ways:
– From the POI tab
– Nearby a specific entity record
– From the context menu
Step 2.1: Open the POI tab You can search the POI records under the “POI” tab in the header. A menu will appear by clicking on “POI,” allowing you to search for any Point of Interest location by entering a specific address.
Location: Enter the address of the specific location for which you want to find a POI.
Here, the Texas location is selected. Select the POI (Point of Interest) you want to find for the location and enter the radius. In this example, ‘Restaurants’ and ‘Coffee Shops’ are selected as POIs.
Now, click on the “Go” button. It will plot the selected POI on the map near the chosen location, and you will see all the plotted POI details in the right panel.
Here, you can view Restaurants & Coffee Shops records on the map and access their addresses and contact details through the right-side slider.
Step 2.2: Search POI nearby any record’s location
To plot records on the map, first select the CRM entities configured in Entity Mapping. Under the Plot tab, choose the Entity and its Records view to display account records on the map.
When you click any record, a detailed slider for that record will appear on the right side. You can use the ‘Point of Interest’ option to search within the record.
Select the POI and click “Go.” You can view the selected POI locations on the map along with their address and contact details.
Step 2.3: From the Context menu Right-clicking on the map opens the context menu, where you will find the option ‘Set as POI Location.’
By clicking on ‘Set As POI Location,’ the POI option will open under the ‘Plot’ tab. You will then see the address details of the location where you right-clicked on the map. After selecting the POI, click on the ‘Go’ button to plot the selected POI records on the map.
Based on the requirement, the sales reps can search for nearby POI locations using three different methods.
Step 3: Search Other POI on the MappyField 365 map By clicking on “Other,” you will see a list of POI locations. By selecting any POI from the list, the locations are plotted on the map near the selected or added location.
From the list, ATM and Pharma options are selected. After selecting the POI locations, click the GO button to search for the POI on the map.
In this way, sales representatives and service executives can find Points of Interest (POI) locations and manage their activities efficiently.
